The Hog Jam started in 2006. Store Owners (Marvin Bailey, Joe Faulkenberry, Joan Clyburn, and Linda Adams) from downtown Kershaw decided to hold a Barbeque Cookoff. The cookoff was designed as an effort to bring more business to the downtown shops in the center of town.
The Hog Jam success was a multi person effort. Now entering it's Third Year, the Hog Jam is poised to become a premier festival in the area, if not the state.
The Name Hog Jam was developed to speak to two aspects of the festival. Hog referring to "Whole Hog" a style of barbeque. and Jam referring to the getting together with music
